Neo-impessionist large ensemble jazz in dazzling plumage
On her debut album "Birds", the artist Laura Lenhardt presents herself for the first time as a composer, arranger and singer. She continues her international career and promises a musical journey that touches and captivates with fragility and strength.
The sound world of the album "Birds" opens up gently to the listener: poetry, a rising pulse, a slowly developing dramaturgy towards orchestral power. The artist introduces the album with a poem in Portuguese: "... delicate swallows awaken, sincere silence of a sentimental rhapsody". Poetry runs like a thread through the album of the jazz singer and composer, her music tells moving stories, inspired by distance, longing and friendship, created between Europe and Brazil.
The ensemble, consisting of top-class musicians who have accompanied Laura's musical career, invites you on a journey to enchanted places and mystical castles in the air. The warm timbre of her voice carries the lyrical melodies and poetic lyrics, which merge with moving rhythm structures and cinematic musical grace - delicate and powerful.
"(...) it’s not just her compositions that captivate. Laura’s voice, pure and unpretentious, glides effortlessly through each piece, imbuing every song with a sense of sincerity and joy. There’s a warmth in her tone that invites you in, making you feel as though you’re sharing in an intimate musical conversation— a true pleasure to listen to." says Michel Bisceglia (pianist and composer).
Both as a quartet and as a full 12-piece ensemble, the musicians create a world of sound colors beyond genre-specific pigeonholing. Words and music flow into each other, a "neo-impressionistic" timbre envelops Laura's singing and her poetic lyrics in English and Portuguese.
With "Birds", Laura Lenhardt continues her quest for musical diversity and intercultural exchange and shares her musical poetry with the world.
